God's Garden
The empty lot on the corner of Main and Front Streets once held a house presumable built by W. R. Kivett and wife, Dulcie as they paid $750 in February of 1888 for the property and sold it for over $400 in August of that same year. Having passed through several hands through the years, the property was acquired by Dr. James F. Pruitt in 1965. In 2001, Dr. Pruitt gifted the property to the City of Oxford with the stipulation that it be used exclusively as a flower garden. Sometime later the city returned this corner lot to the hands of Pruitt and after his death, the property was sold to Danny Evans and wife, Debbie. It remains an empty lot at present.
