Nathaniel M. Taylor
Nathaniel M. Taylor was one of the organizers of Oxford Academy in 1813-14 and served as its secretary. He was a member of Oxford's first board of commissioners in 1816, was a member of the General Assembly, and a trustee of the Methodist Church. Nathaniel was a great, great uncle of Arch L., Dr. Rives and Edward F. Taylor. (from Hays, Oxford Men and Women, Vol. 16, pages 143-145) Dr. William Taylor Dr. William Taylor was a member of Oxford's first board of commissioners and trustee of the Oxford Presbyterian Church. He was a surgeon in the War of 1812. In 1817, he bought a lot on the northwest corner of College and McClanahan St. which he sold in 1833. He migrated to Memphis, TN.
