Faces of Historic Oxford, NC
Incorporated 1816
Historic Oxford is located in Granville County -- just off I-85 -- in the north central part of the state of North Carolina and is within an hour's drive of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Normally a quaint and quiet setting, Oxford is the home of the NC Hot Sauce Contest, hosting over 10,000 people the second Saturday of September each year. Join in the competition, or simple enjoy tasting products of sauciers from all around. Don't miss craft vendors, food trucks, activities for children, or shopping at the downtown stores. Visit Thornton Library for the 'Friends' Book Sale, the largest of the year, as second Saturday monthly sales are suspended through the summer and books accumulate for this special event. Stroll through the Main Street or College Street historic districts to examine the over 200 historic properties in the area. Visit the Granville Museum with a history of the county located in the old county jail building and other exhibits in the Harris Exhibit Hall. There are discoveries awaiting all who take time to uncover them.
